Concave / Bucket Handle Pointing

Established almost 40 years. LR Building are a traditional building company and have worked on many properties throughout London and the home counties including conservation and listed buildings

Bucket handle pointing

Bucket handle pointing (con-cave pointing) is the most common of all types of pointing in UK. This type of pointing was achieved by removing the handle of a old metal bucket cutting it to the desired length then rubbing the horizontal and vertical mortar joints between the bricks with the natural con-curved shape of the handle.

Modern brickwork has adopted this finish on 90% of all brickwork that we see throughout UK although they no longer use the bucket handle on modern brickwork tools have been made especially for this type of pointing thus name the jointing tool some bricklayers call it the Dinging iron or the Donging iron
